Welcome to the Fab Lab where we specialized in the production of wood and metal products using both state-of-the-art machinery and traditional hand tools. Realize your product or art installation at the Me.reka Fab Lab!

What can you do?

What you can do

We provide workshops on how to produce your own wood and/or metal product from scratch, from beginner classes to more advanced woodworking and metalworking classes.

We also provide training on how to use specific tools/ machines which will then convert to memberships that allows members of Mereka to use that specific tool / machine after going through our training.

What can you make?

DIY wood and metal furniture (tables, chairs, shelves); handicraft / home accessories; metal structures / frames for a specific use; mini art installations;  artistic build projects.

We’ll help you create a table that will allow you to maximise your work spaces and keep you fit. This workshop is great for office staff that wanna work healthier.

Most of us work indoors but in this workshop, we’ll show you how to bring the outdoors in with these adorable planters. First, we’ll show you how to mix cement to make concrete, then we’ll teach you how to mold the concrete into your own unique planter. You’ll be able to take home your very own succulent that’ll look cute and brighten up any indoor office space.

Pallet wood chair

Dubbed the world’s oldest chair, this chair is fun activity which teaches participants how to slightly bend the laws of physics. Participants can get a little imaginative with the design and experience the magic of building a simple piece of furniture. We can design this workshop to accomodate groups.

An eco brick is a plastic bottle stuffed with single use plastics. Using eco bricks or glass bottles, we’ll show you how to make your very own unique shelf. These shelves can be used for books, shoes, plants and any other item you’d like to place on them.

Who are our Fab! Lab experts?

Fab! Lab Services

Eisenkraft: A universal all-in-one tool set that provides cutting, punching, riveting, scroll forming, angle bending, ring/curve rolling, bar & basket twisting, annealing, embossing, square- & round pipe bending, bending on the edge, profile bending (Eisenkraft website). Versatile and portable, it is able to be fixed it onto the work surface of choice. It is an essential tool that helps in fabricating custom shapes needed in specific builds.

Mitre saw: A table saw used to cut various types of wood to specified lengths and angles.  

Welding machine: A standard metal inert gas (MIG) welding machine able to join metal to metal.

Router: A woodworking tool that is used to smoothen edges, create patterns and delicately trim wood where a conventional saw cannot.  

Scroll saw: A small saw used to make intricate cuts on wood where a normal saw cannot.

General tools: Our workshop provides a wide range of power tools suitable for different types of builds. This includes a metal grinder, drop saw, power drills, belt sander and various saws such as the jigsaw and circular saw. These tools are beginner friendly and straight-forward to pick up.

Waterjet Cutting

The waterjet is an industrial tool which uses a combination of high-pressured water and garnet, an abrasive substance, to cut objects. Waterjet Cutting is used to slice and cut materials such as plastic, metal, wood, glass and acrylic. Now, waterjet cutters can quickly and accurately cut every material. Acclaimed for its power, speed and versatility and ultra-high pressure (UHP), waterjet technology is the fastest growing major machine tool process in the world. This is because manufacturers value the waterjet’s value efficiency and productivity.
